At the root of the problem is the fact that expressions have no memory. The first step in learning how to solve the problem is to understand why the obvious solution doesn't work. In this article, I'll cover the issues involved with expression speed and frequency control, then present some practical solutions to the problem. The good news is that there are ways to work around the problems. It may seem like it should be, but it definitely is not. The bottom line is that in the world of expressions, controlling speed or frequency is not a simple task. Instead of gradually speeding up, holding steady, then slowing down, the rotation starts at a fairly constant rate, slows down in the middle, and then actually backs up at the end (see sidebar movie). You keyframe the slider to go from zero to 360, hold at 360, then go back to zero. Spd = effect("Slider Control")("Slider") This is the new version of the expression: Your idea is to connect variable spd to a Slider Control and keyframe the slider value. Now you decide that you want to be able to manipulate the rotation speed. So far so good-it works as expected (see sidebar if you're wondering about the expression's use of value). This is how the expression looks, set up to rotate at 360 degrees (one revolution) per second: You have added a variable named spd to let you set the rotation speed. Imagine that you have created an expression for the Rotation property, based on the global attribute time, which generates a nice smooth rotation.

I loved Eckhart in the cop thriller Line of Duty so it’s great to see him revisiting the subgenre and Socks just looks bad ass and fury. Eckhart stars along with the always dependable Stephen Lang, Penelope Mitchell, Diego Tinoco, Paul Johansson, Hemky Madera, and Kyle Smithson.Įckhart is one of the most solid and reliable character actors out there and this one looks high-octane with some serious bite (see what I did there?). The screenplay was penned by Carlyle Eubank. Muzzle is helmed by filmmaker John Stalberg Jr. Jake and Socks aim to uncover a vast conspiracy that has a chokehold on the city and take vengeance on those responsible. Blocked by Internal Affairs, muzzled by his own superiors from finding the shooter’s identity, Jake resolves to go rogue and partners with “Socks”, a violent K-9 with titanium incisors and mysterious past. In a moment of crisis, Jake tries to get an EMT to look at Ace and assaults him when he refuses, resulting in him taking leave from the force. LAPD K-9 officer Jake Rosser (Aaron Eckhart) and his K-9 partner Ace battle it out on the streets of LA when they get into a shootout with local drug dealers and Ace is shot dead. It just so happens that causing rapid death is often an outcome of meeting these criteria. A snake is probably not too bothered if its meal still has a heartbeat, so long as that heartbeat is not powering a defensive attack or a bid for freedom. So, what adaptations and behaviours do snakes have to actually catch and kill their prey? Before we get into it, it is worth noting that successful predation is determined by prey capture – not necessarily prey death. In previous blogs, we have mostly focussed on adaptations in the context of locating prey. Top left: Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix ), image Judy Gallagher, CC2 top right: Large-eyed pit viper ( Trimeresurus macrops ), image Rushen, CC2 bottom left: Amazon tree boa ( Corallus hortulanus ), image Charles (Chuck) Peterson, CC2 bottom right: Shield-nosed cobra ( Aspidelaps scutatus ), Mokele, CC2. As all these factors play a role in shaping snakes’ adaptations there is a diverse mix of morphologies and behaviours, including some agile snakes that ambush their prey as well as some stout snakes that actively hunt (bottom row). If we consider microhabitat, for example, snakes that sit hidden in the leaflitter for weeks on end will have very different morphology and colouration than snakes that live amongst the vines and branches of trees – even if they are both ambush predators, such as the two snakes pictured in the top row below. A snake’s adaptations will therefore reflect the variables of its niche. However, fitness is influenced by all aspects of an animal’s ecology – its interactions with other living things, the conditions of the environment, and its role within that environment its niche. You may recall from last week that an animal’s adaptations increase its chance of survival, which in turn increases its chance of evolutionary success – its fitness. When making these generalisations about the links between snake morphology (body form) and predation strategy, it is important to remember that there are many exceptions to the rule. The dwarf crown snake (Cacophis kreffti ) is a small venomous elapid that hunts lizards. In contrast, active hunters tend to have longer, thinner bodies with greater agility, which complement their prey capture strategy. Many ambush-hunting snakes have heat-sensing pits, and as a rule-of-thumb most tend to have a thick and powerful body, which helps them to strike quickly or overpower their prey. Their vomeronasal organ helps them to pick up a scent trail and their ectothermy and low metabolic rate allow them to go for long periods of time between meals. Over previous blogs, we have introduced the concept of animals being specialised to their environment (adapted) and discussed a few of the adaptations that help snakes survive, particularly their predation strategies. This week, we are taking a closer look at prey subjugation strategies - that is, the strategies snakes use to overpower their prey. Last week, in our Predation strategies - Part 1: Bodies and behaviours blog, we discussed the links between a snake’s morphology (body form and structure) and its predation strategy. Snake Predation Strategies – Part 2: Venom and constriction Initially, the sycamore seed balls have green color but they later change to brown. Sycamore trees produce spiky seed balls that measure 1” (2.5 cm) in diameter. The two unique identifying features of sycamore trees are their exfoliating thin bark that gives the tree a patchy look, and their round seed balls or pods that contain downy tufts of seeds. In time, the mature trees tend to become hollow. Sycamore trees are prone to fungal diseases as they grow. Sycamore wood is used to make musical instruments, butcher’s blocks, and furniture. Sycamore tree timber is a hardwood with a coarse grain. Due to their enormous size, sycamores are not common types of trees in residential gardens. In fact, Sycamore trees are one of the largest deciduous trees native to North America. Sycamore trees are fast-growing popular deciduous shade trees in city landscapes and parks. Some tree species that are not in the Platanus genus are also called sycamore – these are the sycamore maple ( Acer pseudoplatanus), and sycamore fig ( Ficus sycomorus). The most common sycamore trees are the American sycamore ( Platanus occidentalis), Mexican sycamore ( Platanus mexicana), and California Sycamore tree (Platanus racemosa). There are about six species of sycamore trees in the Platanus genus. Sycamore trees are generally easy to identify due to their bark that peels away, revealing whitish or orangey patches. These massive broad-leafed trees grow to between 100 and 130 ft. Sycamore trees are often known as plane trees. Read on to get a visual of the most common trees that have pinnate leaves.Sycamore trees are flowering trees in the plant genus Platanus and the family Platanaceae. The leaf structure on some of these hardwoods is very similar (exception are locusts and boxelder) but different enough to identify the tree to a major classification (genus). If you have a leaf with these characteristics, you probably have a broadleaf or deciduous tree that is either an ash, hickory, walnut, pecan, box elder or black locust. If your tree has a leaf that is pinnately compound, the leaflets are growing opposite each other in rows and do not have a bud in the leaflet axil, you should assume the leaf is pinnate or multi pinnate. Leaf compoundness may cause these tree leaves to extra shoot systems and can confuse the leaf identification beginner. There are many degrees of "compoundness" in more complicated leaves (such as tripinnately compound). The botanical term for leaves with these secondary leaf branches is called a bipinnately compound leaf. Interestingly, some pinnately compound leaves can branch again and will develop a second set of pinnately compound leaflets. These leaflets form on either side of an extension of the petiole called the midrib in a simple leaf or a rachis in multi-pinnate leaves. The pinnate leaf's extension above this growth bud will support opposing rows of smaller sub-leaves which are called leaflets. This axil is always associated with a protruding axillary bud that will be the beginning of a new twig. From the leaf's petiole connection to the first sub-leaf is an angle called an axil. Pinnately compound leaves will have leaf stems called petioles that can have different lengths and connect the leaf to tree twigs. The stress of the school year is reaching its height right now. (You can check out my LoG mod Hotel Hades 2 here on ModDb, or over at the Grimrock Nexus where you will find many more.)Long story short, Unlimited single. I have the game on Steam but got it also on gog due their crossplay feature, and I've been looking that it seems that most of the content on Steam's workshop is the same that the content on Nexus mods, but I have some questions on this:ġ) Has been made any "mod remake" on Legend of Grimrock 2? Are all the dungeons listed there "exclusive" for the first game or is porting them to the sequel easy?Ģ) Is the Workshop content "par" with the Nexus Mods one? I'm one of these guys who support DRM-Free games, and I would rather get the game on gog than on steam (as waiting for a humble bundle as I did with the first would be a thing of rolling a dice). Falagar is a huge mod (+40h) that aims at bringing the player an actual adventure, a journey, comparable to good old games like the Might and Magic series or Wizardry. I'm almost at the end of the main quest of the first game and I'm completely blown away by the game (Playing on normal, old school). This is a custom dungeon with a focus on puzzles, but involving combat utilizing many custom assets downloaded from Nexus, and my original puzzle ideas. The worst thing is that Bousman has no idea how to build tension. Early on, Rock seems to be going for ‘80s cop drama dialogue with stuff that sounds almost like a parody of cop-on-the-edge movies, and he has a few comedic exchanges with his new partner that hint at a very different film than what this becomes when all of that is dropped for Bousman’s bland intense style. “Spiral” suffers from some pretty severe tonal problems too. Like most of the movie, the traps are more like contractual requirements, rarely creative in design or theme. One would have hoped that Rock and his collaborators would have at least come up with some clever devices to reboot the franchise, but a machine that rips off a man’s fingers, for example, feels like something a drunk came up with at a bar after catching up with the franchise on HBO Max. It turns out that Banks isn’t particularly well-liked in his own department because of some internal affairs issues of the past, and the killer this time decides to work his way through some of Zeke’s corrupt fellow officers, knocking them off in surprisingly uninspired ways. It doesn’t end well, traumatizing a poor subway train driver for sure.ĭetective Zeke Banks (Rock) and his new partner ( Max Minghella) get the case, quickly learning that there’s a Jigsaw copycat in their midst. He can literally pull himself free from the device, severing his tongue, but saving his life. He’s informed by a figure in a pig costume ("Pigsaw"?) that the train will be there in two minutes and turn him into mush. In this case, the man is basically hanging by his tongue on a subway track. He wakes up in a contraption obviously inspired by the now-deceased Jigsaw Killer, a man who liked to claim that he never actually murdered anyone, always giving them a way out of their predicament. A cop sees a man snatch a purse from a woman and chases him into a tunnel, where he’s quickly chloroformed. The Jigsaw Killer himself would probably like a word or two with these filmmakers, people who may have cribbed some of the pages of the franchise but never really understood the book. Interesting ideas are raised but unexplored, and even the traps are uninspired this time around. While it’s not hard to see what "Spiral" could have been, it's even easier to pick out where it failed to live up to that potential. Jackson came on-board, along with one of the directors from the original franchise, Darren Lynn Bousman, who helmed parts two through four. The premise of blending Rock’s comic sensibility, which is often brilliant, with the universe of inspired traps and conflicting morality sounded incredible on paper. The story goes that Chris Rock had an original idea with which to reboot the “ Saw” series, originally launched in 2004 by James Wan’s twisting thriller that influenced an industry, and Rock basically talked his way into the production's existence. “Spiral: From the Book of Saw” is more frustrating than the average mediocre horror sequel because you can easily decipher the wasted opportunity up there on the screen. In September, Byju's had announced the acquisition of K-12 creative coding platform, Tynker for an undisclosed amount. Launched in 2015, Byju's has over 115 million students cumulatively learning from the app and 7 million annual paid subscriptions. This partnership will help millions of students learn mathematics in an interactive way, in turn making them overcome their fear of math and learn to master it, he added. Our shared passion for learning and teaching resonates with Byju's, making them a perfect partner for our onward journey," Hohenwarter said. "GeoGebra was born out of a passion to help students learn math in a visually appealing and engaging manner. The curriculum is available in multiple languages for students around the world. GeoGebra has a community of over 100 million learners across more than 195 countries, brings together geometry, algebra, spreadsheets, graphing, statistics and calculus in one easy-to-use format. India startups, though, have cleverly used technology to harness the potential of India’s 1.3 billion population, and with some smart business moves, are making sure that they find their place in the world."Together with our combined strengths, we will have a wider reach and the best resources to build innovative and exciting next-generation learning formats," she said. This is largely thanks to the massive valuations that Indian startups have managed to garner - even though they operate in a country with a GDP per capita of $2000, they’re able to acquire companies which operate in countries where GDPs per capita that are thirty times as much. While acquisitions are commonplace enough in the startup world, what’s interesting is the direction in which they’re happening - Indian startups are now regularly confidently striding into developed nations, and acquiring companies that can complement their businesses. After its acquisition by Byju’s, GeoGebra will continue to operate as an independent unit under the leadership of its founder and developer, Markus Hohenwarter, who had started the project as a part of his Masters thesis in 2001. Its platform has both commercial and non profit offerings, and is intended for students from primary school right to the university level. GeoGebra is headquarted in Austria, and offers a dynamic, interactive and collaborative mathematics learning tool.
